Lamborghini Sounds In Singapore

Lamborghini Sounds In Singapore: Start up, revs, downshifts, accelerations.

Celebrity Accidents: Soccer Star's Lamborghini Gallardo

LA RÉUNION — Another celebrity car crash makes headlines. Fortunately, this one did damage only to the expensive vehicle, a Lamborghini Gallardo belonging to soccer star Karim Benzema of the Real Madrid team. The car went off the road, sustaining considerable damage, on the Indian Ocean island of La Réunion last week.

What's not in dispute is that the player and his friend, French rapper Rohff, had left the Villa Club discotheque on the island late at night after celebrating Benzema's 22nd birthday. Some sources say Rohff was at the wheel and Benzema was a passenger. Others say the soccer star was not in the car at all but in a Porsche.

A video posted on YouTube with French narration shows the car at the roadside being tended to by a tow truck. "The Lamborghini finished its drive on three wheels," says the narrator. A spokesman says Benzema was not in the Lambo but a passenger in a Porsche that traveled in front of the yellow sports car. The German car, according to this description, braked suddenly, causing the Lamborghini to leave the roadway.

The tow truck operator is shown in the video seated behind the wheel, smiling broadly and saying, "I don't know who was at the wheel [when the accident happened], but for the moment, I'm the one at the wheel...and I'm proud."

Back to the real world, Benzema rejoined his Real Madrid teammates on Monday and was quoted by the soccer Web site Goal.com as saying he is "ready for the great challenges that await in 2010."

Rumor: Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 SV coming to Geneva in March

Rumor has it that Lamborghini is planning a hardcore version of the Gallardo LP560-4 called the Gallardo LP570-4 SV (SuperVeloce). Insiders say that the model will be stripped down but will only push out 10 more horsepower than the base model. The front suspension will also see some work and carbon ceramic brakes are aslo expected. You can also look forward to seeing some aggressive body design cues.

Lamborghini will show dealers and VIPs the car sometime next month with a public unveiling at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Deliveries should begin around May.

The folks over at TeamSpeed say that the Gallardo LP570-4 SV won’t be the last version of the supercar before it goes under a redesign in 2012. A hardcore rear-wheel-drive version is also expected to debut sometime in early 2011.

Rumours: Lamborghini LP570-4 SV – Hardcore LP560-4

According to rumours at TeamSpeed a hardcore version of LP560-4 is planned soon. The name of the 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera successor will be LP570-4 SV and it packs less weight, only 10hp more and a stripped-down interior. Reworked front suspension and CC brakes are expected also.

The brand new supercar will feature a new front spoiler with similar style as the LP670-4 SV and a large rear wing like the Supertrofeo G. That is really it, nothing revolutionary.

Dealers and VIP customers will be able to see the hardcore version of the current Gallardo at a presentation event next January. The public unveiling is expected for the Geneva Motor Show 2010. Deliveries to customers start from May 2010.

But this isn’t the complete story! This SV-version will not be the last version in the Gallardo LP560-4 series, a fifth and final hardcore rearwheel drive version will come later next year or early 2011 to keep production running until 2012 when the Gallardo successor is expected.

So prepare yourself for a LP570-4 SV in 2010 and a LP590-2 SV in 2011!

Lamborghini Madura Design Study

Earlier this week we showed you the Ankonian Design Study a design by Slavche Tanevsky, a student at the university of Munich. Next to the Ankonian he also designed this hybrid Lamborghini and called it the Madura.

Again, Tanevsky carefully chose the name. Madura is an Indonesian island famous for bull races. Because this design study was created together with Lamborghini and Audi designers, we believe it may hold the key to future designs. So does Tanevsky:

"The Madura is a proposal for the first hybrid Lamborghini scheduled for 2016. Doing a car more efficient and more nature-friendly, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be exciting, good-looking and fast. (But) in my opinion this new propulsion system should be represented on the looks of the car."

In our opinion the design of the Madura doesn’t look too bad, although perhaps Lamborghini should start giving the Miura Concept further consideration. Let us know what you think.

Lamborghini Ankonian concept

Designer Slavche Tanevsky must be really in love with supercars as well as all the curves they offer, hence coming up with the Lamborghini Ankonian concept which boasts an extremely aggressive design, making us wonder whether it has stealth features and is undetectable by radars. Apart from that, the Lamborghini Ankonian concept could certainly give the Batmobile a run for its money, boasting a narrow and complex-looking body couple with a pinch of GT proportions. Would the Italian supercar maker be inspired by this for their next, actual creation? Only time will tell.

Lamborghini Toro LA690-4 Design Concept

The Lamborghini Toro LA690-4 – you are now looking at – is a conceptual study penned by independent designer Amadou Ndiaye. The Toro LA690-4 is a front-engined supercar created to compete against other exotics like the Aston Martin One 77 and the Lexus LFA.

The designer’s words express that the car’s LA 690-4 designation stands for ‘Longitudinale Anteriore’ or ‘Front Longitudinal’ in English, while “690″ refers to the V12 engine’s fictional output and ‘4′ to the car’s all-wheel drive system. The V12 engine is coupled to a seven-speed double clutch transmission. Ndiaye envisions that the chassis, body panels and other parts of the car should be made from carbon fiber and magnesium to save weight.

We must say the looks aren’t a true Lamborghini-styled design. The long nose with its negative angle and short back aren’t really design influences we see in current Lamborghini designs. The pictures show a LF-A look-a-like with some decent Lamborghini influences from current production and concept models. What are your thoughts on the design?

Edo Lamborghini Gallardo LP600-4

600 - 340 - 3.5... These are the three most prominent figures of the new edo Lamborghini Gallardo LP600/4. 600 stands for its power output, 340 for its top speed and 3.5 seconds is how long it takes to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a dead stop. edo competition has managed to improve performance by increasing power output to 600 horsepower at 7,970 rpm and the torque output to 572 Nm (422 ft-lb) at 6,845 rpm.

Another priority was to upgrade the suspension in order to improve drivability, driving dynamics and precision. edo competition achieved this by employing a newly developed sport suspension system, which is adjustable in compression and rebound damping. This technology allows for custom suspension setups that are ideally matched to a wide range of needs. The low friction shock absorbers and new spring rates were tested extensively on race tracks and high speed ovals, as well as on the road, because handling is not an area for compromise. The result has to be experienced to be believed...

Rounding off the sporty concept are 19 in. three-piece racing wheels with artificially-aged cast center-sections, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws. For the front axle the customer can specify stock tire dimensions or 235/35 ZR 19, while the rear wheels are shod with 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber. With this solution edo competition enables its customers to reuse the factory tires on their new wheels.

Another, ever-intriguing topic at edo competition: „The voice".

The new stainless steel high-performance exhaust system with butterfly valves is an attractive proposition. Not only is the sound level adjustable via remote, the exhaust also frees up 15 horsepower and lets the driver enjoy a whole new aural experience. As a welcome side effect, the edo exhaust system weighs 12 kg (26 lb) less than the original piece.

As a result of years of experience with high speed tests, edo competition has reinforced the front end of the edo Lamborghini Gallardo LP600/4 with a new front spoiler lip, making 340 km/h (211 mph) runs into a relaxing affair.

Lamborghini Toro LA690-4 Concept

Designed by Montreal student Amadou Ndiaye, the Lamborghini Toro LA690-4 was envisioned as a modern reinvention of the Lamborghini Espada from the late 1960’s. It also bears resemblance to the sharp, jet-fighter-inspired lines of the Reventon. The designer envisions drawing power from a front-mounted V12, which can be seen underneath the window panel on the hood. Keeping things light, the Toro uses heaps of carbon fiber and magnesium with an intended weight of around 3,300 lbs.

eBay Find of the Day: 1972 Lamborghini Espada is tanfastic

If you were shocked when Lamborghini unveiled a four-door in the form of the Estoque concept at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, then you know how enthusiasts must have felt when the Raging Bull took the wraps off the Espada in 1968. A four-seat Lambo? Shocking! But that's what they did, and the Espada entered into the history books.

Powered by Lambo's trusty 3.9-liter V12 that already appeared in the 350GT, 400GT and Miura, the Espada was the first Lambo to be offered with an automatic. In fact, it was the first automatic transmission – all two speeds of it – capable of handling that much power, and came on offer with the 1974 model. This model, however, was made in '72 – making it one of the last Series II models made before the Series III came along – and is equipped with a five-speed manual, along with four-wheel disc brakes and a fully independent suspension: cutting edge stuff for its time.

It's tan, it's had one owner, and from the looks of things, it's been kept in meticulous condition. The car's up for grabs on eBay by Lamborghini Houston. Bidding at the time of writing is up to a modest $20,200 and the reserve price hasn't been met yet, so if this is your idea of automotive heaven, stop on by and check it out.

Lamborghini sales exceed expectations in the UAE

Abu Dhabi: Italy's luxury carmaker Lamborghini is expecting a marginal decline in its UAE sales this year, although they have been more or less steady in the second half of 2009, Martin Andrews, area sales manager for Lamborghini Middle East, told Gulf News on Sunday.

"We sold 60 vehicles in the UAE last year and this year we expect to sell more than 50," Andrews said in a telephone interview.

"In this region we have seen less impact of the global financial crisis compared with some other markets around the world. We have seen our sales recover in the UAE during the second half this year... we are ahead of our expectations," he added.

Offerings

Lamborghini sells gasoline-powered cars in a price range of Dh800,000 to Dh1.55 million in the UAE. Lamborghinis can generate from 560 to 670 horsepower and are capable of reaching speeds of up to 325 km/h.

Lamborghini sells two variants — Gallardo and Murcielago. Its dealership here has been operating for 25 years.

In 2008, Lamborghini sold 2,546 vehicles worldwide. Comparable half-year sales volumes for the Middle East region were 84 cars in 2008 versus 60 units in 2009.

In the UAE, half-year volumes were 31 cars in 2008 versus 23 in 2009, the company said in an e-mailed statement.

"We sold this year about 45 cars in the UAE until November. Things are now more or less normal," Andrews said.

When the Italian police unveiled their state-of-the-art Lamborghini patrol cars, they cannot have been short of volunteers itching to take the supercars in pursuit of speeding criminals.

A team of elite drivers was trained to chase down speeding motorists and deliver urgently-needed transplant organs in the futuristic vehicles, capable of reaching more than 200mph.

What they apparently were not prepared for was a distracted motorist who pulled out of a petrol station without looking.

Today, a bandaged and bruised police driver may have had a tough time explaining how he managed to write off one of the force's prized Lamborghinis when he rammed it so hard into a line of parked cars that one of the stationary vehicles ended up on the police car's roof.

According to the police, the crash was caused by the driver of a slow-moving Seat Ibiza who emerged without looking from a service station, clipping the Lamborghini and sending the vehicle swerving into the parked cars.

The front end of the Lamborghini was crushed in the accident, near Cremona, and the driver and a passenger were injured, although not seriously.

The Lamborghini Gallardo, worth £130,000 and capable of reaching 62mph in four seconds, was one of a pair donated by the Italian manufacturer to the police to do battle on Italy's roads, where 1 million motorists are injured annually and 4,731 died last year.

Both cars include transmitters to send images back to HQ, a defibrillator for accidents and a fridge for transporting donor organs. The two officers were returning from a convention in Cremona, where they had been addressed a student audience on road safety.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 by ENCO Exclusive

At a time when most designers swear by curves and shapes which flow and merge, the Lamborghini Gallardo created by Belgian stylist Luc Donckerwolke dropped in 2003 like the proverbial bomb. Look for curves in this vehicle and - except where they are technically essential - you will look in vain. Edges and corners define the front, sides and tail. Donckerwolke's courage in producing such clear-cut shapes and his ability to combine them in a harmonious whole has earned him the renowned red dot design award for the Gallardo and its big brother Murcielaga, which has been following the same design concept since 2001.As time went on, the sports car manufacturer from Sant' Agata, Bolognese, launched a range of Gallardos including an open-top Spyder and the lightweight and high performance "Superleggera". In 2008, the Italian firm finally carried out some fundamental technical and optical modelling on its "small" sports car, also improving the styling even further. The front section of the V10 racer, now known as the Gallardo LP 560-4, has since been even more aggressive.

Known for its stylish finishing, ENCO Exclusive from the Saxon town of Chemnitz has now created a customised carbon fibre glove for the Gallardo LP 560-4's lean mean body. The GT3 design front bumper is 100% carbon fibre and has three large gills on each side where the fibre strands are clearly visible. Two additional carbon fibre finish aerodynamic components are available to fit both this and the series bumper: the front splitter and the rear spoiler. The GT3 side skirts may be unobtrusive, but they make the Lamborghini as a whole appear even bigger and stronger. The boot cover for this mid-engine racer- what in normal cars is the engine hood - is also ultra-lightweight but highly resilient carbon fibre. The rear diffuser, wing mirrors and air vents in the boot lid are finished in carbon fibre laminate. Top quality matt foil adds the finishing touches, giving the angular Gallardo the look of a stealth fighter plane. ENCO Exclusive has also had a field day with carbon look laminate in the interior. The inlay on the wheel, the cover on the central console and dashboard and the handbrake shine in silvery black - as do the door handles and openers.

Enco has also been at work on the 5.2 litre V10 engine. After some serious power treatment, the ten cylinder with its menacing roar now reaches not 560, but an impressive 620HP. The maximum torque is now up from 540 to 575 Newton metres.

Car Crash: Lamborghini Murcielago in Switzerland

Late last Thursday in Switzerland a young drunk Russian driver crashed his Lamborghini Murcielago into a Volkswagen Golf, while racing friends in three other exotic cars on the outskirts of Geneva, leaving an elderly German badly injured.

The Moscow Times reports that all four drivers of the cars have been questioned and released, two of which are the sons of Russian multimillionaire Telman Ismailov.

The cars that the four Russians, aged between 20-24, were driving were a Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes Mclaren SLR, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Lamborghini Murcielago that crashed, which was apparently rented.

It is reported that the Murcielago driver lost control of his car and hit the Volkswagen Golf in front of him, sending it spinning into a guardrail. This resulted in the 70yr old German driver having to be cut from his car, and is currently in a serious condition in hospital.

The Murcielago is said to have fled the scene of the accident, but was later found by the police. The driver gave a breath test which indicated that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.11%. This is more than double the Swiss legal limit of 0.05% and nearly four times the level of the Russian limit of 0.03%.

Lamborghini Gallardo Twin Turbo “Race Version,” An Incredible 1,875 HP Supercar

We’ve seen some amazing cars so far. Whit a lot of power and the number expressing the horsepower having 3 digits. No, we are not talking about trains, we are talking about cars. You can see them on Youtube instantly, just search for “fast supra with 1400 hp” or “viper twin turbo 1900 hp” or “1300HP GTR 7.92” and the list can continue. But the next car is something I’ve personally never seen before. But, let’s cut the rambling and get to the subject.

Underground Racing presented its latest creation, a Lamborghini Gallardo with a V12 twin turbo 1,875 HP engine, named “Race Version.” The unimaginably powerful vehicle was custom made for a client, Jonah, and runs with a special fuel name VP c16, used in the race cars combustion. The engine of the supercar is helped by a 6-speed transmission. The lucky possessor of this amazing piece of engineering managed to make a quarter mile in less than 10 seconds, with a speed of 162 mph.

Rumours Of New Lamborghini Urus

Having got into the ultra-exclusive market with the Reventon, it’s being reported that Lamborghini will attempt to compete against the upcoming Ferrari F70. The news stems from reports about Lamborghini’s development of a new, range topping supercar, perhaps to be named the Urus.

The car will share much of the same underpinnings as the Murcielago replacement (rumoured to be called the Jota) but will benefit from modifications in the form of carbon fibre parts. It will feature a complete carbon fibre body and active aerodynamics to help give it a cutting edge over the competition.

The car will probably be released a little while after the Murcielago replacement which is expected sometime next year. It’ll also be the most powerful Lamborghini to date with a rumoured 800bhp on the cards.

James Blunt - 2010 Pirelli Calendar Launch

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 20 November 2009 – Automobili Lamborghini and Pirelli, once again in partnership: the House of the Raging Bull’s super sportscars were among the luxury vehicles chosen by the tyre manufacturer for the new 2010 Pirelli calendar presentation, which took place last night in London.

A Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce and two Gallardos - an LP 560-4 Spyder and the latest limited edition, rear-wheel drive LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni – chauffeured some of the best known celebrities from music and show business to the event, including English model and socialite Lady Victoria Hervey, and songwriter, singer and twice Brit Award winner James Blunt and his companion. Blunt’s album ‘Back to Bedlam’ has sold 11 million copies worldwide and topped the charts in 18 countries.

For the occasion, all three Lamborghinis sported a new feature: hidden LED lights which, positioned under the wheel arches, illuminated the tyres in homage to the Milan-based tyre company.

The long-standing partnership between Lamborghini and Pirelli, both leaders in the automotive industry, focuses on technologically advanced solutions such as specific tyres to match Lamborghini sportscars’ extreme power and performance.

Lamborghini and Pirelli’s partnership extends to motorsport: Pirelli is the only official supplier of both the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make series and of the Lamborghini Academy, which organises Lamborghini driving courses on prestigious international racetracks.

Raging Bulls: Contact and Carnage in Germany!

From the looks of this clip from the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race in Germany, it looks like there were a lot of wrecks, but that just could be the editing. Given the amount of carnage, I was surprised to see there weren’t any flames. Hell, I half-expected pit lane to look like a beach full of bonfires. Kidding. Anyway, while there was definitely some chaos on the course, Team Lamborghini Munchen managed another first place win, which makes three this season. Keep up the good work gentlemen, and keep uploading these great videos to StreetFire!

Chrome Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster shows up in London

Certain vehicles with Italian surnames reach such pinnacles of aesthetic glory that even the slightest bit of after-market chrome serves only to cheapen and detract from their true worth. The purveyors of tastelessness responsible for the monstrosity pictured above made the executive decision to forego the chrome 22’s and instead wrap the entire Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in heinous, over-the-top chromage. Words fail.

According to World Car Fans, that’s not even real chrome finish, but an adhesive foil plastered onto the car with chrome splashed on. Apparently, the car has been seen making turns and lowering real estate value up and down London streets.

Lamborghini China

Despite the financial doom and gloom, which sent several automotive brands to the wall, Lamborghini sales in China have been booming.

Automobili Lamborghini based in the small rural town of Sant’Agata in Italy’s north, has just opened its seventh Chinese dealership in Hangzhou.

China is on track to sell 80 cars this year, which is 23 percent up on the 2008.

In fact, over 26.8 percent of Automobili Lamborghini’s global sales are from the Asia-Pacific region, which is expected to grow even further during 2010.

China is now the world’s largest producer of millionaires and billionaires on the planet, so you can expect to see more raging bulls on the roads than ever.

At this year’s Shanghai International Auto Show and track day events organised by Lamborghini in China, there were more than 300 potential customers and 200 journalists invited to try out the Gallardo LP 560-4 and the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce.

With demand for the Lamborghini marque at an al time high in China, the Beijing dealership has been expanded with a new and larger showroom and is now the largest sales outlet for the brand in Asia.

The location is on the famous Jinbao Street, one of the world’s leading destinations for luxury shopping and the perfect place to show off the Lamborghini range.

Update: Heffner Lamborghini Gallardo tuned to 1,005HP at the wheels

Heffner Performance’s standard twin-turbo package for the 5.0L high-rev V10 engine of the Lamborghini Gallardo was already one of the most extreme tuning packages for any car, let alone an Italian exotic, but the Florida tuner has lifted performance yet again. This time around, power has been boosted to an insane 1,005hp (750kW) at the wheels and torque has been bumped up to 765lb-ft (1,036Nm).

After an initial build, the car ‘only’ churned up 930hp (694kW) at the wheels but its owner, Allan Fiedler, was determined to reach his original target of delivering more power at the wheels than the Bugatti Veyron develops at the crank. After spending more time with the car, Heffner’s engineers managed to reach the target and have provided the dyno chart to prove it.

Power is sent to all four wheels via the Gallardo’s standard AWD system but to ensure some level of drivability remains, a two stage boost controller limits boost in 1st and 2nd gear to useable limits.

As expected, modifications to the standard Gallardo are extensive. Starting with a complete engine removal and disassembly, Heffner installs steel cylinder liners, new forged pistons, polished crankshaft journals, new bearings, a new twin-turbo system with custom exhausts and intake systems, twin wastegates and blow-off-valves, 1,000hp-rated Carrillo Billet Steel connecting rods, a twin-stage electronic boost controller and a heavy duty clutch to transfer all that power.

To make sure everything runs smoothly, Heffner also installs uprated fuel and water pumps, fuel-injectors and a water-cooled intercooler system. Styling enhancements include a carbon-fiber rear decklid and a Superleggera-style rear diffuser and spoiler. The car’s final kerb weight measures in at 3,377lbs (1,531kg) with half a tank of fuel.

While no track numbers or quarter mile times have been posted, with more than 1,000hp spinning up the wheels the car could easily be the fastest Lamborghini in the world.

Lamborghini Countach 5000QV

In 1985, Lamborghini made the biggest improvement to Countach. The V12 was stroked to 5,167 c.c., incorporated a 4-valve cylinder head (called "Quattro-valvole" in Italian, which gave its name "QV") thus a total of 48 valves. Power jumped to a world-beating 455 hp, torque rose to 369 lbft. Finally, the Countach produced more power than the originally proposed LP500 prototype, which would have been capable of 440 hp from 5 litres of displacement.

Forget the 200 mph dream, this would never be achieved with the same aerodynamic. As the body was virtually unchanged from LP500S, people were happy to see the QV could run up to slightly over 180 mph, which was among the fastest in the world. Ferrari 288GTO and Testarossa had more or less the same top speed while other competitors were quite far below than that.

Compare with LP500S's engine, the 48-valve QV unit was very powerful and revvy, it was certainly a gem. The extra power was mainly achieved by the larger valves and the repositioned Weber carburettors - now mounted vertically instead of horizontally to enable straight forward engine breathing. However, this resulted in a large mound on the engine lid thus deteriorated the precious rear visibility.

Lamborghini Countach LP500S

Let alone the originally proposed 200 mph target, Countach again and again let down motor journalists whenever testing against the clock. The LP400S was probably slower than 160 mph, that is, much inferior to its predecessor, the aerodynamic superior Miura. However, due to the financial uncertainty (Ferruccio Lamborghini sold his company just before Countach launched, then the company changed hands frequently), a new Countach was not born until 1982.

Also known as LP5000S in America, LP500S got an upgraded engine, now displaced at 4754 c.c. by increasing 3.5 mm bore and 7 mm stroke. As much as 302 lbft of torque was available at 4,500 rpm, though tougher emission control prevented the power from exceeding 375 hp. This V12 surely improved the disappointed performance - top speed rose to about 165 mph, while 0-60 mph was down to 5.6 sec.

There were no much changes in other aspect. The body was virtually the same as LP400S, although the roof was raised by 30 mm for more headroom.

Lamborghini Countach LP400S

Thanks to Dallara, who worked as a consultant to Lamborghini at the time, a modified LP400 was launched in 1978. The most important change was the adoption of Pirelli's new P7 high performance tyres - 205/50VR15 up front and 345/35VR15 in the rear !! You know, no road car in history had ever used rear tyres as wide as this 345 mm P7, even until today! In addition to the latest low profile technology, grip was increased significantly without hurting ride quality. Now Countach had the right tyres to match with its tremendous power.

To accommodate wider tyres, extended wheel arches made of glass fiber were added, which also enhanced aggressive feeling. Air dam was added under the nose, while a V-shape huge rear wing was listed as a popular option for increasing high speed stability as well as visual aggression. Many people including me like the wing, but its extra drag cost at least 10 mph at top speed.

Even without the wing, LP400S had considerably higher aerodynamic drag than LP400, thanks to the widened wheel arches and tyres. This inevitably deteriorated top speed, especially when the V12 was carried over without the slightest alteration. Acceleration was also worsened because an extra 50 kilograms were added to the kerb weight.

However, judging by handling, the LP400S never let us down - cornering ability was not in doubt anymore. Obviously, Lamborghini knew that an all-time supercar must have handling matching speed.

As mentioned already, the V12 was not changed at all, but a more honest appraisal resulted in 353 hp instead of 375 hp.

Lamborghini Countach LP400

Today, you may feel surprise that the earliest Countach was so pure in shape - without extended wheel arches, no front spoiler, with narrow tyres and flat engine lid. Undoubtedly, this is the most loyal to Gandini's spirit.

You might surprise how old-fashion the Michelin XWX tyres were - 14 inches diameter, 70% profile, 205 mm width for the front wheels and 215 mm for the rear ... obviously this was unsuitable to such a supercar.

However, also because of this, LP400 had better aerodynamic drag than its successors, therefore it was actually quicker in top speed than LP400S and LP500S.

There was another unique feature in LP400: instead of a normal rear-view mirror, it had a periscope mirror recess in a characteristic groove on the roof. You can see the groove in the picture beside.

Lamborghini Diablo GTR - 1999

The Lamborghini Supertrophy is a monomarque championship held every year on the most famous race tracks, mainly in Europe. Since 1996 the cars competing in the Lamborghini Supertrophy were the Diablo SVR, a special version of the Diablo SV model adapted for racing. After four years of competition the Diablo SVR has proved the extreme reliability of the Lamborghini engines which could stand four racing seasons with no problems.
Quite an achievement for an engine designed for road use and brought to the tracks with no modifications.

Now, to meet the request of the passionate driver participating in the Lamborghini Supertrophy, the House of the Bull is presenting the Lamborghini Diablo GTR, a car based on the Diablo GT, the most powerful produced in series, that will set a new benchmark in the monomarque championships with an engine delivering no less than 590 hp.

In comparison with the Diablo GT, GTR most important features are a modified chassis frame with integrated roll bar, improved suspensions, central fixing nut for the rims, race braking system, additional radiators for transmission oil cooling, very high performance rear wing (directly bolted to the chassis), simplified interiors and weight reduction.
The engine is basically the same V12, 6 litre, of the Diablo GT which thanks to the adoption of a specially tuned exhaust system, without catalyser, delivers 590 hp (575 in the GT model).

Special features of the GTR engine, common to the GT, are:

• multi-throttle intake manifold with individual intake system
• variable intake valve timing system
• dynamic air inlet duct upstream of the intake plenum
• titanium connecting rods and lighter crankshaft

Unique specifications of the GTR engine are:

• improved exhaust system designed for racing
• special calibration of the engine management system

The engine management system is based on the proprietary Lamborghini LIE electronic engine control system tuned for racing. Fuel injection is sequential multipoint and ignition is static with individual coils. Lamborghini Data Acquisition System, LDAS, and diagnostic functions are integrated in the engine electronic management system.

For the engine cooling, two water radiators in parallel are side mounted to the engine and an engine oil cooler is front mounted as in the Diablo GT. Additional coolers for gearbox and differential oil are installed in order to better match the racing overloads.

The transmission is on the rear wheels through a Lamborghini 5 speed gearbox with one basic gear ratio option and an alternative option for a shorter 5th gear ratio. The gear box lever is in an asymmetric position on the central tunnel in order to be closer to the steering wheel, for better control. The steering system is power assisted.

The tubular chassis frame integrates the roll bar and is directly connected to the rear wing. The front suspension is modified for racing. Shock absorbers and anti-roll bars are adjustable. The rims are lightweight magnesium alloy with central fixing nut and they accept racing type tyres. A special racing fuel tank with fast filling system has been installed.

The braking system is based on the Diablo GT high performance module. New racing brake calipers have been adopted to better match the very severe racing conditions.

Most of the body is carbon fibre made, except for the roof, which is made of steel for torsional rigidity, while the doors are made of aluminium, for safety reasons.

The cockpit fittings are simplified to meet racing requirements. The driver seat has been moved towards the longitudinal axle of the car, reducing the size of the central tunnel, to ensure a better driving position. Racing switches for ignition and for other functions have been adopted instead of the series push buttons. The fire extinguisher system is installed on the right side of the cockpit with activating switch on the tunnel. The driver's seat is of racing type with a six-point safety belt and the steering wheel is also racing type.

Lamborghini is planning to produce 30 Diablo GTR which will be ready by May 2000 in order to open the Lamborghini Supertrophy season on the 11th of June.

The Lamborghini Supertrophy will be part of some of the most prestigious motorsport events. The following Series have been approached for a calendar to be presented to the next FIA Motorsport World Council for approval of the Lamborghini Supertrophy 2000 as a FIA Sanctioned Series.

2006 Lamborghini Gallardo SE

The Italian sportscar manufacturer presents a limited special edition of its successful sportscar: the Lamborghini Gallardo SE.

The Lamborghini Gallardo SE (Special Edition) which is limited to 250 units is characterized by a two-tone body paint, an even more sporty interior and technical improvement. The basis for the Special Edition is the extreme, uncompromising and unsurpassed Lamborghini Gallardo.

The Lamborghini Gallardo SE is equipped with a permanent 4WD, 6 speed gearbox, aluminum space frame, ESP and ASR, ABS, ABD, air conditioning, as well as two front and two side airbags.

The color range consists of six alternatives: two grey shades as well as white (Balloon white), yellow (Giallo Midas), Orange (Arancio Borealis) and green (Verde Ithaca). The roof, the engine bonnet, the front and rear spoiler as well as the two side mirrors are painted in black (Nero Noctis) making them stand out against the body color. The rear lights are slightly tinted. The newly designed Callisto rims give an extra touch to the overall appearance which is complemented by the colored brake calipers (available in grey or yellow).

The interior design sets forth the two-tone concept by having all piping and stitching matching the exterior body color of the car. The Lamborghini shield is embossed on the headrest of the driver and passenger seat. The Lamborghini script is preciously inserted into the dashboard. The carpets are black having the borders again matching the exterior body color of the car. Needless to say that the entire interior is handcrafted in leather partially perforated and of supreme quality.
The interior design underlines the new, more aggressive personality of this Special Edition.

The limited Special Edition is richly equipped with standard features such as a rear view camera, which in combination with the build in multimedia screen facilitates parking. The sports suspensions with the sports steering wheel and in combination with the P Zero Corsa tire (specifically developed by Pirelli for more ambitious driving) are all standard features on the Special Edition. The long list of standard equipment comprises also an exclusive car cover.

Upon request a vast range of additional equipment is available. A customer can choose additionally the robotized gearbox e.gear, as well as a navigation system (depending on the country), heated side mirrors, fully electrical and heated seats. A winter package (heated seats, side mirrors, heated wash jets, rubber floor mats, 12 Volt outlet), and a lifting system are also available. Standard tires instead of sports tires can be ordered without surcharge.

The Gallardo SE benefits from several technical modifications:
The gearbox is now equipped with shorter gear ratios in the first five gears, enhancing the dynamic performance of the vehicle. The result is also shown in the acceleration from 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds which improved by 0.2 seconds, achieving a top speed of 315 km/h versus 309 km/h previously. This is shown impressively on an e.gear equipped car with a feature called thrust mode, optimizing acceleration and gear change from a standing start throughout all gears.

The more direct and precise steering are additional modifications carried out to improve even more the superb handling of the vehicle.

The Gallardo SE will be available from September onwards.
In Europe it will be available at a list price of 141.500, -- excl.VAT.
